Review of the playing year. (17-11-12)

In a year which the club field seven teams from u8 to intermediate level and reached six finals the future of the club looks bright. The u12 team were to only team to collect silverware when they won the the Mid Clare championship beating the Banner. They lost the u12A championship final to Miltown. The u14s lost their final to Clo0ney Quin while the U16s lost the final to Doonbeg back in May. The Intermediate team lost the league final to Doonbeg and lost to Miltown in the championship at the semi final stage. Heres hoping for better luck in finals in 2013.

Fergus Rovers lose to Doonbeg in Doonbeg(16-11-12)

Fergus Rovers minors lost out in reaching the final for the second year in a row  when they were beaten by Doonbeg this evening in a game which provided excellent football. These two teams met earlier in the year when Doonbeg  had a seven point win. This game was always going to be close one with the home team getting the first two points of the game. Ciara O Malley registers Rovers first score after six minutes  and the next ten minutes proved fruitful as Ciara and Gillean Griffin added a goal a piece. The local side finished the half well with three goals leaving the half time score Doonbeg 3-04 to Rovers 2-01. On the return Ciara O Malley and Louise Griffin cut the lead to just four points but this is a close as it got. Louise Griffin  adding  a point, but with a quarter of a hour to play rovers had a player sin binned and it all looked over. The outstanding Louise Griffin started to run at the Doonbeg backs creating a free for Ciara O Malley which she converted and had rovers final score of the game when she scored a goal. Rovers lost out on a final score of 3-05 to 5-07. Great credit must go to the management team of Edel Carmody-Malone, Aine Kelly and Christina Hill for all their work throughout the year.
