Outstanding win for Minors (17-11-13)

Fergus Rovers minors finally captured a championship after a lapse of twenty two years when after an excellant display they defeated Doonbeg by a single point in Miltown Malbay yesterday morning when it ended 1-07 to 1-06.  Forced to line out without the injured Fionnuala Nagle this was an outstanding victory where every player gave it her all.  The locals who never trailed led 1-2 to 0-3 at half time the goal coming from county u 14 player Sarah Mullins. There was plenty of drama too as Rovers were in front by four points entering additional  time.  A well taken Doonbeg penalty by Nollaig Blake and a further point from Olive King levelled the match but Ciara O'Malley and substitute Rebecca Cahill tacked on one each before Doonbeg had the final say when Nollaig Blake who was staight through with only Aoife Clohessy to beat blasted over the bar. and in the end Fergus Rovers were delighted to hear the final whistle to let the celebrations begin.  Team captain Ciara O'Malley accepted the cup from County Chairman Davy Browne.

The team was: Aoife Clohessy, Meabh McCarthy, Ciara Hartigan, Rebecca Hill, Joanne Kelly, Shauna Hill, Ava O'Malley, Rachel Hill 0-1f, Aine McSweeney, Lauren Griifin, Gillian Griffin, Sarah Mullins 1-1, Ciara O'Malley 0-4 (0-1f).
