Wren   (27-12-16)

Thank you to all who helped on the wren on st. stephens day. Well done to all the young talent who danced, sang and played music. Thank you to the orgainisers and anyone who helped from collectors, drivers and to the people who feed the girls on the road. It takes a lot of help with crews out in Ballynacally, Frure Caherea and Lissycasey areas. Well done all.


Website hits (9-12-16)

In December this year our website has broken the 150,000 mark for hits since our launch in the summer of  2011.  On average there is 70 views per day so please keep logging on. Many thanks to all mentors/ mangers and our secretary Deirdre Cummins and Colette Hogan for providing the latest information. A.G.M update 19-11-16

In a well attened A.GM on Friday evening there were a number of changes to the  top table and management teams. Martina Hartigan (Treasurer and Deirdre Cummins secretary both stepped down from there positions after serving a number of years. Colette Hogan will now take over the secetaries roll with Fiona Culligan the new Treasurer. John O Malley stays on in his chairpersons roll. The club has a new president in Christina Hayes. Each team manager read a report on how the year went for there team. Martina Hartigan gave a details account on the financial state of the club and thanked all who fundraise during the year. Deirdre Cummins who has worked tireless for the last number of years in many rolls from mentor, manager, secretary and player gave her report with the highlight of the year winning the U14B U16C and minor titles. John O Malley also thanked all who helped in an way with the club during the year. See all elected officers and mentors in CONTACT US section.


Club AGM (3-11-16)

The club will hold its A.G.M on Friday 18th of November in Frure meeting room starting at 8.30pm. In what was a very good year on the playing field with u14, u16 and minor titles collected. The chairman, treasurer and secetary will all give accounts of the year gone by. Managers from U8 up to adult level will give details on the progress on their teams. It is expected that there will be a number of changes to the top table. New mentors will be required for a number of age groups. Anyone interested in helping out for the coming year are more than welcome to attend the meeting.




Minor champions 2016

Fergus Rovers are Minor B champins for 2016 after a 9 point win over Miltown in Kilmihil on Friday evening. The foundations for the win were laided within the first 9 minutes of the game when Rovers had 3-4 on the board to miltowns no score. A thrid minute goal from Ava O Malley followed quickly by points from Sarah Mullins and Gillean Griffin. Ava O Malley added her seocond goal shortly after. Aine McSeeney opened her account with a point. The excellent Michelle Collins came up from wing back to add her name the score sheet with a point. Aine Mcsweeney goaled on the 9th minute to extend Rovers to 13 points. All looked good and comfortable for Rovers but they didnt score again untill the final minute of the half when Ava O Malley pointed free. Miltowns purple patch came from the 15th minute when they score an easy goal. They also added five unanswered points. Half time Fergus Rovers 3-5 to 1-5. Gillean Griffin opened the second half scoring with a point. Aine Mcsweeney added another point to extend the lead to 8 points. A goal from Miltown cut the lead to 5 on the 4th minute. Alanna Hanrahan restored order with her first point of the game. Mid fielder Abbie Connellan found herself at the edged of the Miltown square and made no mistake in soccer styling the ball to the net. Mid way through the second half Rovers lead again by 8 points.Miltown had the next 3points  beofore captain Rebecca Cahill pointed. Sarah Mullins goaled from the penalty spot with Ava  OMalley having the final say of the game witha  pointed free. Aine Garry replaced Rebecca Cahill, Sharon Cummins for Gillean Griffin and Emma Hill for Aine McSweeney. Credit must be given to this good Miltown team who faught to the final whistle. This Minor B title is added the the U14B  and U16C titles won by the club early this year with Aine Garry part of all three winning panels. Final scrore Fergus Rovers 5-10 Miltown 2-10. Two finals next weekend (25-10-16)

The club will compete in two finals this weekend. On Thursday evening the the U12 yellow team will take on Liscannor in a Bowl final in Miltown at 7.30pm. On Friday evening the final game of the year for Rovers is the Minor B final against Miltown in Kilmihil at 6.30pm. Best of luck to both teams.



U12 lose A plate final(23-10-16

There weas huge disappointment in Clarecatle on Saturday evening when the U12 blute team lost out to the Banner in the A plate final. Rovers started well with a point from Clara Meaney and Rebecca McCarthy goaled before the Banner opened ther account. Rebecca McCarthy added another point as did Orla Hogan from a free. Halft time score Fergus Rovers 1-3 to Banner 0-3. The Banner were quick off the mark in the second half and created a goal scoring blitz in the space of five minutes. 3-2 without reply in this spell had the Rovers young guns under pressure. Anna Whelan started teh fight back with 1-1, Orla Hogan also added a point from a free. Another goal from full forward Whelan had the sides level with seven minutes left on the clock. With time almost up the Banner edged in front by a point. Rovers tried hard to earn another day out but unfortunately it was not to be. Final Score Fergus Rovers 3-5 to Banner 3-6. Credit to all players and management on a wonderful performance and effort on reaching the A final. U12s lose to Clarecastle(9-10-16

Fergus Rovers u12 yellow team played Clarecastle this morning in Ballynacally. The home side got a great start with two early goals but Clarecastle faught there way back in to the game and lead at the break 2-4 to 2-0. The second half was just as entertaining with both sides working hard. Clarecastle won out by a single point. Final score Fergus Rovers yellows 5-2 Clarecastle 4-6.



A great day of Fotball at u15 blitz (8-10-16)

Well done to all who took part in the first Johnny Hayes blitz which took place in Lissycasey this morning. With 8 games on the cards Fergus rovers played Kilmihil in the first game. Kilmihil won out on a score of 2-1 to 0-5. Game 2 saw Shannon Gaels loose out to Kildysart 0-1 to 1-5. The host club  beat Shannon Gaels 4-5 to 1-0.  Kildysart came up against a strong Kilmihl team who won on a final score of 3-1 to 0-1. The final round games had wins for Fergus Rovers over Kildysart and Kilmhil over Shannon Gaels. The final pairings saw Fergus Rovers v Kilmhil for the Cup with Shannon Gaels taking on Kildysart for the shield. In a very exciting shield final both teams gave it there all finishing level after normal time. Extra time of 10 minutes was played with Kildyart finishing stronger. Final score was Kildysart 2-5 to Shannon Gaels 1-2. The cup final also had some fantastic football with Kilmiil winning out on a final score Kilmihil 2-2 to Fergus Rovers 0-4. After the games Christina Hayes presented the cup and shield on behalf of the Hayes family to the winning captains. Well done to all the players and all were presented with a medal after the games. A big thank you to all who helped in any way especially to  the parents who provided food which went down a treat and to those that did the catering. . Thank you to the refs umpires and lines people who gave of there time.  To the Hayes family for the beautiful cup and to all who made the day run smoothly Thank you.


The Johnny Hayes memorial blitz will be  held on Saturday 8th Oct starting at 10am sharp in Lissycasey main pitch (weather permitted). The blitz is in memory of the late Johnny Hayes who was one of the founing members of our club. The top two teams will play for the Johnny Hayes Cup while third and fourth teams will play the shield final.



Busy week ahead for the club.(3-10-16)

Next weekend the club will host two blitz. In Ballynacally the u10s will host there second blitz of the year with a start time of 10am . In Lissycasey the U15 blitz will take place with teams from Kildysart, Kilmihil and Shannon Gaels taking part. Each club will play each other with the top two teams playing for the Johnny Hayes Memorial cup with third and fourth teams playing for the shield. Minors reach final (3-10-16)

Fergus Rovers minors reached the Minor B final after a six point win over Liscannor in Ballynacally on Sunday morning. The final score was Fergus Rovers 2-9 Liscannor 1-6. Rovers now wait on the winners of Miltown and Clooney Quin who are down to play the other semi final next weekend.


Bus for Croker (23-9-16)

Fergus Rovers U14 and U16 panels will travel to Croke part on Sunday to support the Clare ladies football team in the Intermediate final against Kildare. Our own Clare Hester is part of the panel. Start time is 1.45pm which will be followed by the senior final at 4pm between Cork and Dublin. First game of the day is the junior final between Longford and Antrim at 11.45am. All games can be seen on TG4.


Three winners of forecast the score (19-9-16)

There was three winners of this years forecast the score between Mayo and Dublin. NO one had the correct score, however three people were only out by one point. Anthony Scanlon care of Moneypoint was one winners with Maria Meaney selling the line. Winner number 2 was Ger Donnellen Kildysart sold by Holly and Alannah Murphy and winner number 3 was Orlaigh Ni Cheallaigh purhcase on her own card. Each  winner receives €170 each. A big thank you to all who sold lines and to all who supported this fundraiser.


Gaelic4Mothers and others.(9-9-16)

On Saturday (sept 10th) at Lissycasey main pitch the G4MO with hold a fundraising blitz. Teams from Eire Og Ennis, St. Bridgets and St. Patricks from Limerick will attend. After there will be a social event at Fanny O Deas where Laura Hanrahan will say goodbye to her ponytail as she will have it cut in aid of the Breast Cancer unit in Limerick and the Laura /Lynn foundation.



Congratulations to Clare on reaching the Intermeidate final(4-9-16

Clare Ladies Intermeidate team have reached this years All Ireland final after beating Tipperary in the Gaelic Ground on Sat. evening last on a  final score  Clare 3-14 Tipperary 2-16. The half time score was Clare 2-7 to Tipp 1-9 after Niamh O Dea and Naimh Keane had the first half goals. Clare had to fight to the final seconds of the game to secure their final spot in Croke park on Sept. 25th with a meeting with Kildare.


The U10 panels travelled to Limerick today to a blitz hosted by Knockainey in Limerick. All girls played extremely well in what was a well organised and very enjoyable day. The u8s had two teams and u10s had three  teams - Rovers had the largest attend club. Great credit and thanks to all players management, mentors and parents that travelled to support. Rovers had 50 players taking part.


Intermediates out of championship (25-8-16.

The Intermediate panel bowed out of this years championship this evening in Kilmihil after a 0-6 t 1-6 loss to Coolmeen. In what was a very low scoring game the standard of football was excellent and a credit to both teams. Rovers management of Oisin Talty, Kevin Hanrahan and Pakie Keane got the tactics and line out spot on .Coolmeens Emma McMahon got the opening two points of the game from frees. It took Louise Griffin 20minutes to open Rovers account with a pointed free. Eimear O Connor extend the lead as did Emma McMahon with her third point of the half. Louise Griffin cut the lead to two on 29 minutes and Laura Hanrahan had the final say of the half with a point. Half time score Fergus Rovers 0-3 Coolmeen 0-4. Ciara O Malley levelled the scores with a pointed free and put her side ahead three minutes later with a point from play. Another Emma McMahon free had the side level mid way through the second half. The same player soloed from the 45 yard line and finished with a well take goal to leave Coolmeen 1-5 to 0-5 ahead with only five minutes left on the clock. Niamh Green pushed her side four up with a point from play. Credit to Rovers they tried everything and kept pushing for that vital score. Aine Kelly did convert a free to leave just one score in the game. Well into injury time Ciara O Malley did hit the cross bar and the ball rebounded behind the goalie but was saved on the line. Minors reach the semi final

The minor team had a comfortable win over Miltown this evening in Frure pitch. After getting the opening score of the game Rovers went behind 1-2 to 0-1 after only ten minutes.Gillean Griffin kick started the scores with three points and a pointed free from Ava O Malley to level up the scores. For the remainder of the half Roves out scored  Miltown 1-6 to 0-1. The scores coming from Aine McSweeney, Ava OMalley (1-3) and Aine Slattery (0-2). half time score Fergus Rovers 1-11 to 1-3. Rovers were well in control of the second half. Scores from Ava O Malley (2-2) Gillean Griffin0-2, Rebecca Cahill and Aine McSweeney 0-3. Final score Fergus Rovers 3-20 MIltown 3-7.Brid Garry played the roll of sweeper to perfection as both teams lined out with only two players in the Full foward line(14 a side). Sarah Mullins dominated the game from centre back with great cover from Alanna Hanrahan. Flag day. 16-8-16

Fergus Rovers members had a very enjoyable day at the All Ireland fleadh today as they held a flag day. Rovers had many musicans and dancers on display. A big thank you to all who helped  out during the day from collectors, musicans and dancers and of course to all who supported . Junior bow out of championship (15-8-16)

Fergus Rovers Juniors are out of this years championship after suffering a heavy defeat to Clarecastle. Gillean Griffin and Sharon Quinn exchanged points from frees. Alana Hanrahan added a second. Rovers had a lot of ball in the opening 10 minutes but waisted a number of chances. Clarecastle did the damged in a ten minute spell from the 11th minute to the 21st minute when they scored four goals. Alana Hanrahan won a penalty which was convert by Rebecca Cahill. Half time score Fergus Rovers 1-2 Clarecastle 4-3. The scores continued to flow for the magpies in the second half out scoring Rovers 4-5 to two points each from Eimear Stephens and Aine Slattery. Mairead Hayes wad outstanding playing only her second game this year.Mid fielder Alana Hanrahan, Aine Slattery and Michelle Collins and sub Eimear Stephens also tried hard. Final score 8-8 to 1-6. Goals wins games. (11-8-16)

Fergus Rovers minors got there championship opener off to a winning start in Lissycasey this evening. Points from Gillean Griffin, Aine McSweeney and a  Ava O Malley free had Rovers ahead 3pts to 2pts after ten minutes. A goal from Ava O Malley after good work from Sarah Mullins put the home side 3 up. Rebecca Cahill added a like score for the winners with Ava O Malley getting her second goal. Further points from Sarah Mullins, Rebecca Cahill and Gillean Griffin extend the half time score to nine points. (4-6 to 1-6). The North Clare side cut the lead to five in the second half with the aid of the breaze after only ten minutes.Alana Hanrahan opened Rovers account in the second half with a goal to settle her side. Aine McSweeney pointed and Ava O Malleys scored her hat-trick of goals after excellent work from Michelle Collins.The hard working Aine Slattery and Alana Harahan closed out the scoring with 1-1. Final score FergusRovers 8-8 Burren Gaels 2-13. Ciara Sheehan made some fine saves in goals and had good cover from her full back line of Lauren Hill, Cathy Casey and Lorraine kelly. Bernadette Kelly, Alana Hanrahan and Michelle Collins cover an amount of ground in the half back line as did mid fielders Aine Slattery and Abbie Connellan. Gillean Griffin, Sarah Mullins and Aine McSweeney accounted for 3-5 with the full forward line of Rebecca Cahill, Ava OMalley and Emer Stephens tagging on 5-2. Emma Hill replaced Rebecca Cahill and Yvonne Collins replaced Emer Stephens. Brid Garry and Sharon Cummins.



Great turnout for run for Johnny,(12-8-16

There was a great turnout for the run for Johnny orgainised by the Clare Ladies football board. Over two hundred runners and walkers took to the line in the Frure hills. First man home was Kenneth Rogers St. Johns (16.19) with Mary Hayes Clarecastle the first lady home on a time of 20.06.Aidan Downes was the first local man home followed by Dereck Lynch. Busy week (7-8-16)

Fergus Rovers will hold a club meeting on Tuesday at Fanny O Deas at 8.30pm.

On Wed 11th Aug a Walk/ Run for the late Johnny Hayes will take place in Frure starting at 7pm. All club and county players, mentors and family members are asked to come and walk or run the 5k.

On Thur. 12th the minors will have there first outing for 2016 when they have home venue to Burrne Gaels at 7.30pm.(pitch to be confirmed.)

Juniors defeated by The Banner (12-7-16)

The junior side suffered there second defeated against the Banner on Monday evening. The final score was6-9 to 1-9. The lineout was Ciara Sheehan, Christina Hill, Rita Donnelly, Maeve McCarthy, Lauren Hill, Cathy Casey, Ciara Cullen, Alana Hanrahan, Michelle Collins, Fiona Kelly, Grainne McCarthy, Rebecca Cahill, Eimear Stephens, Deirdre Cummins(cpt) and Yvonne Collins. Next up is an away game to Moy next week.


Juniors suffer heavy defeat.(4-7-16)

Fergus Rovers junior side were in action on Sunday evening in Clarecastle against the home side. First half points from Alanah Hanrahan, Grainne McCarthy (3) and Ava O malley along with a goal from corner forward Fiona Kelly had the side trailing at the break 1-5 to 2-5.On the restart it was all Clarecastle who added 10 points to their tally as Rovers failed to score. Final score 1-5 to 2-15. The team was Ciara Sheehan, Meabh McCarthy, Rita Donnelly, Christina Hill, Sharon Cummins, Cathy Casey, Michelle Collins, Aine Slattery, Alana Hanrahan, Gillean Griffin, Grainne McCarthy, Rebecca Cahill, Fiona Kelly, Ava  OMalley and Deirdre Cummins (cpt). Championship 2016 (30-6-16)

Fergus Rovers Intermediates recorded a win over Shannon Gaels in round 1 of the championship this evening in Lissycasey main pitch. The visitors opened the scoring in the 2nd minute from a free. Rovers opening score of the game came from the boot of the hard working Sarah Mullins in the 6th minute. Mid fielder Louise Griffin double the scores with a point quickly followed by 2 points from Ciara O Malley. The gaels added two further points from frees in the  21st and 22nd minutes. Laura Hanrahan had the next two points before Shannon Gaels scored there first point from play. Half time score Fergus Rovers 0-6 Shannon Gaels 0-4. Abblie Connellan extened Rovers lead with a point as did Louise Griffin. Two quick points from Sarah Bohannon the first from play and a minute later from a free. With time running out for the visitors they won a free in the middle of the field, it was taken quickly and some how ended up in the Rovers net. Roisin Killeen took the kickout and the ball was worked up field to the advanced full back Lorraine Kelly who made no mistake in putting the ball past the Gaels keeper. Full time score Fergus Rovers 1-8 Shannon Gaels 1-6. Shannon Gaels play Eire Og next weekend with Rovers having a bye.

Lissycasey Festival (26-6-16)

What a weekend it has been for the parish of Lissycasey with the music festival. On Friday night a tribute was played to the late DYMPNA O SULLIVAN with local musicians followed by music and dancing from TAYLORS TWIST. On Saturday night hundreds turned out to see MICHAEL REGAN and this was followed by the popular MIKE DENVER. Sunday the events started at 12 noon but due to poor weather the organiser had to make a late call and and move the Fun Day in to the Marquee. The soccer match took centre stage from 2-4 before all moved to the pitch for the Townland Tug of War. The weekend was finished off with dancing to PATRICK ROCHE. A huge congratulations to the organising committee for all their work. Credit is due to all who took up jobs for the weekend from stewarts, bar staff, field organisers, ticket sellers, first aiders, BBQ workers and the many many who played their part on a wonderful weekend. The weekend was the brain child of one man the mighty JOHN O MALLEY who put his idea into motion 18 months ago. The O Malley family should be proud of their achievements which created a buzz in the local area. All proceeds go to Fergus Rovers Ladies Football Club, Lissycasey G.A.A., Fergus AC, and Lissycasey Tidy Towns.


Mass for the late Ml. Hanrahan (26-06-16)

Mass for the repose of the soul of the late Ml. Hanrahan, Decomade and Sydney will take place on Friday July 1st at Our Lady of the Wayside Church, Lissycasey at 7.30p.m. May he rest in peace.



Fergus Rovers U14B champions (19-6-16)

Fergus Rovers u14s claimed the County u14 B title today in very wet conditions in Kildysart. West Clare Gaels hit an early lead with 2points before a Molly McCarthy free hit the cross bar and the rebound fell nicely to Ellen Griffin who buried the ball in the net. A further 1-2 from West Clare gaels Niamh Morrissey but them back in front. Molly MCcarty added another free before Savina Browne pointed. A goal from Lisa Keating pushed the West Clare outfit further ahead. A good spell for Rovers before the break with goals from Ellen Griffin and Savina Browne. A like score from Siobhan Keane kept them ahead but Chloe O Shea cut the lead with a point. Half time score West Clare Gaels 3-5 to Fergus Rovers 3-3. Pointed frees werer exchanged from Soracha Donnellan and Siobhan Keane. Another good spell in the game for Rovers with points from Molly McCarthy(0-2, 1free) and mid fielder Aine Garry supplying a goal. The reliable Molly MCcarthy had 2 points from frees. With 17minutes gone in the second half Rovers were only up a point and the game flowed from end to end. Chloe O Shea got her second point and the excellent and direct Savina Browne goaled form Rovers. All roads lead to Kildysart ~(16-6-16)

All roads lead to Kildysart on Sunday when Fergus Rovers u14s take on West Clare Gaels in the final of the B competition at 12 noon. Both these two teams met in round 2 with Rovers having a comfortable win 5-8 to 2-1. A bigger challange is expected this time round. All underage players and mentors are encouraged to come out and support the girls.


U14s secure final spot(15-6-16)

Fergus Rovers travelled to Clooney Quin for the second time in this competition after the host team won the round 1 fixture. Manager Mairead Hayes had a tough two weeks trying to fix this game between one thing another both teams could not agree a night so it was up to the county board to finalise this game. Once this game got going it had it all with 11 goals. Early goals from Savina Browne (2) and points from Grainne Ryan, Ciara Clohessy, Molly McCarthy (2) had Rovers well in control of this game. Clooney Quin got their first score on 19 minutes with a goal followed quickly a point. Katie Moloney added a goal for Rovers with Ellen Griffin having the final say of the half with a point. Half time score Rovers 3-5 to 1-1. The outstanding Aine Garry opened the second half scoring with a goal and a like score from Grainne Ryan. A responce from Clooney Quin saw them dominate the next 20 minutes. They hit 3-2 without reply 2-2 which came from frees and a goal from the penalty spot. Aine Garry restored ordered when she scored her sides 6th goal and Molly McCarthy added a point. The final score was 6-6 to 5-4. Co. Board meeting (14-06-16)

The June Co. Board meeting took place last night at Treacy's West Co. Hotel. The adult championship fixtures were discussed.  Fergus Rovers are group 1 with Eire Og and Shannon Gaels while Burren Gaels, Coolmeen and Liscannor are in the other side of the draw.  The first round is scheduled for Thursday June 30th when Fergus   In Junior B Fergus Rovers will play Moy, East Clare Gaels, Clarecastle, Burren Gaels 2 and Banner 2. The 11 a side draws are as follows, Senior, Miltown, Kilrush, West Clare Gaels, Shannon Gaels, Cooraclare and Kilmurry Ib. Junior, Doonbeg, Wolfe Tones, Burren Gaels, Kilmihil and Liscanor.  Shannon Gaels requested to move down to the lower tier.  This will be decided by the Fixtures Committee.



Sucessful blitz (13-6-16)

On Saturday morning last Fergus rovers held a very sucessful blitz in Frure. Two teams fro Doora Barefield and a team from Kilrush travelled while the host club field two teams. Each team played each other with Sarah Mullins and Breda Garry refs for the day. Fergus Rovers had 31 players togged on the day and many players putting on the club colors for the first time. The day was well run with a lot of the hard work done behind the scenes by mentors Patricia Meaney, Alan Culligan, Deirdre Cummins Barry Keating, Paul O Sullivan, Peter O Leary, Michael Melican and Aine Garry. Parents of the players provided enough food to cater for all.

The blue team was Abbie Doyle, Meabh Ryan Abbie Cahill, Hazel Keating, Aoife Griffin, Sophie Culliton, Ria Meaney, Sadbh Griffin, Aine Clancy, Meadhbh Ni Mhuineachain, Alanna Ni Chonghaile, Sinead O Leary, Niamh O Sullivan, Orla O Brien and Kylah Hickey. Mentors for this team were Barry Keating, Patricka Meaney, Paul O Sullivan and Peter O Leary.

The Saffron team was Keeva Culligan, Shauan Melican, Caoimhe Talty, Phoebe O Shea, Lauren Leahy, Kate Lees, Eimear Burke, Aoibhinn Troy, Kate Kelly, Brenda McMahon, Katie McDonnell, Olivia Haugh, Leah Culligan, Katelyn Haugh and Rebecca McNamara. U10 blitz (10-6-16)

Fergus Rovers will host a County board blitz on Saturday 11th June in Frure at 10am. Teams from Kilrush and Doora Barefield will attend. Due to the blitz the u8 training will switch to the main pitch in Lissycasey.


U 14 semi final changed to Tue June 14th (08-06-16)

The U 14s will play Clooney Quin in the semi final on Tuesday next, June 14th (venue t.b.c.)


U8s play well against London

Well done to Clondagad G.A.A club who orgainised a number of games today from u6s up to u16s which also included a team from Fergus Rovers u8s playing London. This was some of the girls first ever match and all played well. The club had a B.B.Q and music with special guests Garry Brennan (Clare football captain) and Pat Breen (TD) also attending.  (see pictures photos'86-16, more photos 3)


U8s v London (26-5-16)

Fergus Rovers u8s will have their first game of the season when they take on a team from London. Clondegad gaa club are hosting a club from London as as part of the weekend Rovers u8s will play the visitors. Throw in is at the new time of 11am with players been asked to be there for 10.30am.


No u8 and u10 training (13-5-16)

Training for both groups will take a break for two weeks due to First Holy Communion. They will resume on May 28th in Frure.


County players  (13-5-16)

Aine Slattery and Alanah Hanrahan were part of the Clare u16 panel that captured the Munster C title last weekend. Aine Garry and Ava Cotter are part of the Clare u14s who will participate in the All Ireland u14 blitz this weekend in Portlaoise.


Fergus Rovers u16c champions (10-5-16

Fegus Rovers u16c beat Kilmurry Ib in style this evening. Michelle Collins and Eimear Stephens had the first four points of the game. Aine Slattery had the games opening goal before Kilmurry Ib scored there first point. Eimear Stephens added to the score board with a point,  Kilmurrys Amy Sexton scored her sides goal before Emma Hill had the final say of the half with a goal. Halft time score Fergus Rovers 2-5 to Kilmurry Ib 1-1. Another point from Eimear Stephens extened the lead. Hard working midfielder Alana Hanrahan goaled after a quick free from her mid field partner Aine Slattery. Michelle Collins and  Alana Hanrahan added further points. Then it turned to the Eimear Stephens show, first a pointed free followed by a well taken goal, followed by another point from a free. Alana Hanrahan finished the game with a personal tally of 1-3 while Eimear Stephens finished with 1-7 to her name. Captain Cathy Casey accepted the cup from County board chairperson Bernie Regan. Well done to Manager Sean O Sulllivan who has been involved with many u16 teams over the years and finally got reward for his efforts. Another busy weekend for the club.(8-5-16)

On Sunday morning the u14s play Newmarket at 10am at home. On Sunday evening the intermediates travel to Newmarket for a 7pm throw in against Newmarket. On Tuesday evening the u16c cup final between Fergus Rovers and Kilmurry Ib will go ahead. A time and venue has yet to be confirmed for this fixture.

On Wed. 11-4-16 a club meeting will be held in Fanny O Deas at 7.30pm to discuss Lissycasey marquee, registrations and garda vetting.All mentors / managers are asked to attend.


Mixed results over the weekend


Fergus Rovers u16s have qualified for the final after they beat Clarecatle on Saturday evening. Final score 2-13 to 2-2. The team was Ciara Sheenhan, Emma Meaney, Lauren Hill, Bernadette Kelly, Cathy Casey, Ciara O Brien, Alanah Hanrahan, Aine Slattery, Michelle Collins, Emma HIll, Yvonne Collins, Aisling Hehir, Eimear Stephens. Emily Barry for E. Stephens, inj, Grace o Sullivan, Aine Garry and Lisa HIll. They will play the final against  either Eire Og or Kilmurry Ib in a weeks time.


A slow start from the Junior side against Doora Barefield proved very costly. trailing at the break by 3-5 to 0-0. A big fight back in the second half was encouraging. The final score was Doora Barefield 3-12 Fergus Rovers 3-6.  


On Monday morning the u14s had a comfortable win over West Clare Gaels in Lissycasey. Sherrie Marrinan, Soracha Donnellan, Molly Garry and Clodagh Herlihy had goals in the first half. Aine Garry, Ciara Clohessy, Ellen Griffin, also added points. half time score 4-8 to 1-1. There was only two scores in the second half a goal from Aine Garry which was cancelled out a minute later by a West Clare Gaels goal. Final score 5-8 to 2-1. Busy weekend of matches (27-4-16)

The u16 semi final between Fergus Rovers and Clarecastle will take place in Lissycasey main pitch on Saturday evening at 4.30pm. The junior semi final between Fergus Rovers and Doora Barefield second team is now on at 10am on Sunday 1st of May in Eire Og. While on Bank holiday Monday the u14s play there first game of the season with a home game in Frure against West Clare gaels starting at 11am

It will be a busy week for the u12 panels. On sunday they u12 Lions play Cooraclare on Sunday morning at 10 am against the home side. On Thursday evening they play Doora Barefield at 6 pm in Gurteen. The tigers play Eire Og on Monday at 7.30pm in Eire Og. They play their final against Clooney Quin on Thur. at 6.45pm in Lissycasey.

The u16s had a big win against Doora Barefield last evening. The visitors won the game on a final score of 8-18 to 3-5. Underage games  (15-4-16)

This Sunday the u12 tigers team travel to Kilfenora at 11am to take on the home side Burren Gaels. On Monday evening the 18th April the u16s will play Doora Barefield in Gurteen at 6.30pm.

U 16s get off to winning start (04-04-16)

Fergus Rovers U 16s overcame Eire Og this evening in the opening round of the C championship played at Lissycasey.  The locals were the dominant team in the opening half and at the interval were 0-09 to 0-2 in front with points from Alanah Hanrahan, Yvonne Collins, Michelle Collins and Aine Slattery.  A early second half goal from Yvonne Collins put Fergus Rovers in the driving seat and they ran our deserving winners on a final score of 1-12 to 0-04.  They will play Doora Barefield 2 in the next round in two weeks time in Gurteen. Fergus Rovers easlily accounted for Moy this evening in the Div. 4 league at Lahinch.  The final score was 5-10 to 3-00. First half scores from Ava O Malley (1-2) and Gillian Griffin 1-1. Half time score 2-3 to 1 goal. Second half scores from Deirdre Cummins (0-1), Alanah Hanrahan (1-1), Grainne McCarthy (0-2), Ava O Malley (1-1), Triona Melican (0-1) and Fiona Kelly (0-1). Two matches for Junior team this weekend (31-03-16)

Fergus Rovers Junior team will travel to Lahinch on Saturday evening to play Moy in an outstanding Div. 4 league fixture.  This game throws in at 5p.m.


On Sunday at 12 noon the same team will head to Crusheen to play the locals also in the Div. 4 league.


Busy evening for Fergus Rovers U 12s (31-03-16)

This evening was an important evening in the development of the U 12s.  Fourteen girls under the guidance of Padraig Halpin, Colette Hogan and Kieran Collins headed to Kilmihil where they were just pipped 2-02 to 2-01.  This group known as the "Lions" comprised of Rebecca McCarthy, Orla Hogan, Aoife O'Brien, Caoimhe Halpin, Hazel Halpin, Emer Culligan, Faye Eyres, Emma McMahon, Emer Phelan, Sinead Collins, Aiobhe Crowe, Ella Conway and Josephine Taylor.


In Clarecastle the "Tigers" who trailed 3-01 to 2-02 at half time finished on top where they recorded a 3-04 to 3-02 win in a highly entertaining match.  This group comprised of Lauren Lynch, Louise Coffey, Chloe O'Shea, Aishling O'Rourke, Fiona Breen, Alannah Murphy, Meabh Griffin, Niamh Ni Cheallaigh, Clara Meaney, Laura Griffin, Amy Conlon, Enya Meaney and Maria Meaney.

U12 teams in action on Thursday 31-3-16

Both Fergus Rovers U12 teams will be in action on Thursday evening. The Lions play Kilmihil in Kilmihil at at 6.45pm with Padraig Halpin, Colette Hogan and Ciaran Collins managing this team. The Tigers play Clarecastle in Clarecastle at the same time with Ronan O Ceallaigh, Gerry Griffin and Stephanine Murphy involved with this team.



Fergus Rovers failed to qualify for the semi finals of the u14 feile after being beaten by Kilrush and Clarecastle in Clarecastle yesterday. In the first game Kilrush easily overcame Clarecastle. Fergus Rovers played Kilrush in the second game with Kilrush winning on a score of 1-7 to 0-4. The final game between the home side and Fergus Rovers would decide who when throught to the semi final with Kilrush. Clarecastle had three goals on the board before Rovers started to play their best football of the day. A goal from Aine Garry narrowed the lead before the break. In the second half Clarecastle extended the lead with a point. Aine Garry closed the gap with 1-1 from play and the hard working Holly Garry scoring a point. Rovers pressed for a goal but failed.  Final score, Fergus Rovers 2-2 Clarecastle 3-1. On Good Friday night the 4th Annual Fergus Rovers Bingo will be held in Lissycasey hall at 8.30pm. There will be many spot prizes on the night. Come and enjoy a family night out.


Feile (23-3-16)

Fergus Rovers U 14s will compete in the Feile competition next Monday where they are grouped with Clarecastle and Kilrush.  The event which was originally to be hosted by Fergus Rovers will now take place in Clarecastle. Matches are 15 minutes per half and special Feile rules will apply.


Fergus Rovers v Shannon Gaels finish all square (22-3-16)

Fergus Rovers and Shannon Gaels finished all square in Round 3 of the Division 2 league last night under lights in Kilmihil. Rovers got the better start with points from Louise Griffin (2 frees and one from play). Lauren Griffin extended the lead mid way through the half with a well taken goal. Shannon Gaels got their first score of the game on 15 minutes with a point from Serena Carmody before Sarah Bohannon added another on 26 minutes. Lorraine Kelly powered forward and scored a point to leave the half time score Fergus Rovers 1-4 to Shannon Gaels 0-2. On the restart Lauren Griffin extended the lead with a point. Over the next ten minutes the Gaels scored three goals without reply hitting the lead for the first time. Rovers went up field and won a penalty with Laura Hanrahan facing Carmel Bohannon in goal. Laura took her penalty well and despatched to the net. A Sarah Bohannon point put the Gaels back in front but Aine McSweeney had the final say of the game with a point. Final score Fergus Rovers 2-6 Shannon Gaels 3-3. Club meeting (18-3-16)

There will be a club meeting in Fanny O Deas on Tuesday 22nd of March at 8pm. The meeting is to discuss arrangements for the up coming bingo night and for any mangers/ mentors to discuss how there team are progressing and if there is any issues or querys.


Round 3 v Shannon Gaels (18-3-16)

Round 3 of the Division 2 league against Shannon Gaels will be played under lights on Monday 21st March in Kilmihil at 8pm. Shannon Gaels are in the same position as Rovers with a win and a loss.


Rovers loose to Coolmeen. (13-3-16)

Fergus Rovers Intermediates lost out to Coolmeen this afternoon in round 2 of the division 2 league. Coolmeen were the stronger team overall accounting for 1-4 before Laura Hanrahan got Rovers first point from a free on the 20th minute. Coolmeens goal came from a poor kickout. Two further points from the home side before captain Laura Hanrahan made a great run and her powerful shot came back off the cross bar. Laura was then fouled and took a quick free which she buried to the net. Half time score Fergus Rovers 1-1 Coolmeen 1-6. Points were exchanged early in the second half with Laura Hanrahan and Ava O Malley suppling the rovers scores.Gillean Griffin made an outstanding save to keep Rovers in this game. Carmel McGuane and Louise Griffin added points but Coolmeen finished strong with a goal in the final few minutes. Final score Fergus Rovers 1-5, Coolmeen 2-10. Adult teams in action (11-3-16)

The Intermediate team are in action on Sunday in Round 2 of the Division 2 league when they take on Coolmeen in Coolmeen at 4pm. The Junior side play Burren Gaels in Kilfenora on Saturday morning at 10.30am in the division 4 league.


u8s and U10s (9-3-16)

U8 and u10 training is starting this weekend 12th March. Due to poor weather and wet pitches both teams will train indoors for the first two weeks. The u8s will begin in Lissycasey hall at 10am for one hour, while the u10s are in Ballyncally hall at the same time. (any querys on U8s contact Justin on 086 3842050 and u10 manager Trisha at 086 6095166. Registration fee for both age groups is €22 per child.



Crongress 2016 (6-3-16)

Congress 2016 was held this weekend in Sligo. There was a number of rule changes (1) All adult players must wear gumshield from 1st January 2017. (2) players who require corrective eyewear and want to wear glasses to participate in Ladies football must wear glasses that use durable unbreakable polycarbonate for lens and have durable unbreakable frames. (3) A deliberate sliding tackle will now be a red card offence, (4) The advantage rule has been amended giving 5 second advantage to a player fouled, this is been introducted from April 5th. The 2017 congress will be held in Donegal.


U12 games will not go ahead this weekend (4-3-16)

Fergus Rovers u12 matches will not go ahead this weekend as the Clarecastle and Lissycasey pitches are unplayable. These games are penciled in for March 20th. The next round of games are down for March 13th but again depending on weather.

Training for the u8s and u10s is due to start on Saturday 12th March in Ballynacally pitch at 10am for one hour. Justin Griffin is the manager of the u8 team with Brid Keane and Tara O Malley.

Trisha Meaney is manager of the u10s with the assistance of Alan Culligan, Deirdre Cummins, Paul OSullivan, Barry Keating, Peter O Leary and the Garry sisters Brid and Aine.

All underage players must wear gum shields.


U12s league (1-3-16)

Fergus Rovers will enter two teams in the U12 competiton due to high numbers of players at this level. They will have a team in the Mid / West Clare league and North / Mid Clare league.Games are set to start on March 6th with Fergus Rovers 1 playing Kilrush away and Fergus Rovers 2 playing Clarecastle at home. The team is managed by Ronan O Ceallaigh, with mentors Padraig Halpin, Stephine Murphy, Gerry Griffin, Colette Hogan and Ciara Collins.



Rovers v Miltown, 27-2-16

In a very cold evening in Miltown Fergus Rovers opened the 2016 campaign with a win over the home team. Sarah Mullins opened the scoring with a point followed by a point from Louise Griffin. Miltown made a quick responce with 1-2 from play. Louise Griffin added a further 1-2 before Ciara O Malley chipped in with 3 points. Miltowns full forward tagged on two points. Griffin added her sides 8pt of the evening before wing Laura Hanrahan scored her sides second goal. The final score of the half went to Ciara O Malley. Half time Rovers 2-9 Miltown 1-4. Miltown closed the gap early in the second half but Aine MCSweeney and Laura Hanrahan settled Rovers nerves. During this time Miltown missed a lot of chances but credit is also due to the Rovers backs. Sub Rebecca Cahill made an imediate impact with a point. Louise Griffin added to her tally of 1-4 with a point as did Ciara O Malley.  Final score Fergus Rovers 2-14 Miltown 1-11. Intermediates v Miltown. (24-2-16)

The first club game of the new season is fixed for Saturday in Miltown under lights at 8pm. Rovers will have to play without Clare Hestor as the county team are down to play Cavan earlier in the day.


Medal presentation (20-2-16)

The u12 panel from 2015 which won the shield final last October received their medals after a night of bowling on Friday night. U12 mentor and adult player Catriona Murphy presented the medal to the girls. A great night was had by all.(see photos in photos 5)


U14 training (19-2-16)

Training for u14s will start on Feb. 29th in Frure at 7pm until 8pm. A second night is to be confirmed.  Further details can be had from manager Mairead Hayes at 087 7466447.


Division 2 league (19-2-16)

Fergus rovers will have there first outing of 2016 in the Division 2 league against Miltown on Sat. 27th Feb in Miltown with a throw in time of 8pm.


County u14 panel(19-2-16)

Aine Garry and Ava Cottedr are part of the Clare u14 panel who play Waterford this weekend in the opening round of the Munster championship.

Fergus Rovers minor manager Frank Culleton is now part of the County minor management team.


Lissycasey Marquee (18-2-16)

Fergus Rovers has a portion of tickets to sell as part of a group (Lissycasey Gaa, Lissycasey Athletic and Lissycasey tidy towns). It would be great if we could get Fergus Rovers people who intend to support the event to book tickets through our club. (no nned to pay until nearer the event). Mike Regan followed by Mike Denver plays on Sat 25th tickets cost €25, while on Sunday 26th there is a free fun day at the pitch. Patrick Roche plays in the marquee tickets cost €5. Weekend ticket costs €35. Tables and seating will be a feature at the marquee. Due to unforseen circumstances Stocktons wing will not play on Friday night.



Underage training. (18-2-16)

The u16s began training last Monday night at Lissycasey track under the watchful eye of Sean o Sullivan, Ann Hill, Eibher Slattery and Michael Stephens.

The u12s girls born in 2004 and 2005 begin training on Saturday 20th Feb. in Frure at 10.15 am until 11.30am any querys to Ronan O Ceallaigh at 087 20771108, while the u8s and u10s will start training on March 20th.

The Intermediates are down to play there first game of the new season on Feb.28th at home to Miltown.


Aine McSweeney receives her medal (16-2-16)

Fergus Rovers Aine McSweeney received her 2014/2015 Munster u16c medal at a function in the Armada hotel on Monday 15th Feb. last. The medals were presented by the current Clare ladies football captain Laurie Ryan. (see picture in photos 86-16, photos 10)


Table Quiz (16-2-16)

On Thursday 25th of February a table quiz will be held by the Clare ladies football board. The quiz will begin at 8.30pm in the Grove bar Roslevan. Every club is urged to enter at least one team (€40 for a team of 4).


U12 training. (15-2-16)

Fergus Rovers u12s will begin training on Saturday Feb. 20th in Frure at 10.15am until 11.30am. Any girl born in 2004 and 2005 are welcome. Further infomation from team manager Ronan O Ceallaigh. They are due to play their first game on March 6th.


P.R.O workshop (12-2-16)

Fergus Rovers Mary Keane attended a P.R.O workshop hosted by the Clare county board with speakers Eoin Brennan from the Clare People and Paul Kenny from RCB.


Start dates for u12s , u14s and u16s (11-2-16)

The U12s 13 a side competition begins on March 6th. U14s will have there first outing on March 20th while the u14 feile is on 28th March with the final to be held 2nd April. The U16 competition begins March 27th while the minors start September 4th. The adult league begins Feb. 28th.


Update on club meeting(29-1-16)

At last nights clubs meeting in Frure Justin Griffin was elected as the new U8 manager to be helped by Brid Keane, Tara O Malley and Carmel McGuane. Paul O Sullivan is to be added to the U10 management team along with Trisha Meaney (manager) Alan Culligan and Deirdre Cummins. Mairead Hayes is staying on as the U14 manager along with Mary Keating and Cathriona Murphy.

Kevin Hanrahan is to assist with the Intermediates along with Oisin Talty and progress is been made in finding a manager for this team.

Rovers players on Clare panel (27-1-16)

Fergus Rovers have three players on the clare u14 panel which are training in Kildysart on the astro turf Ava Cotter, Savina Browne and Aine Garry. Clare Hestor is part of the Interemdiate panel who travel to Laois this weekend when they play round 1 of the lidl National football league.


Club Meeting (22-1-16)

There will be a club meeting in Frure meeting room on Thursday 28th January at 8pm to finalise team mentors, fundraising and to discuss the year ahead. All players,mentors and members are requested to attend.


Goalkeeping Course (22-1-16)

A number of club members attended a goal keeping course in Balleyea Hall on Sat. 16th January. Oisin Talty, Kevin Hanrahan, John O Malley, Alan Culligan, Ciara Sheehan and Frank Culleton completed the one day course.


January county Board meeting

The January county board meeting will be held in the West county hotel on Monday 11th January.
