AGM update.(2-12-18)

Colette Hogan and Alan Culligan were returned as secetary and chairperson. Olive O Sullivan takes over from Fiona Culligan as treasurer. Fiona will now take on the roll of  vice treasurer. Christina Hayes was elected vice secetary which will cater for the injury fund. Anne kelly was also reelected as vice chairperson. There was no management teams put in place until the January meeting.


Medal presentation (29-11-18)

Th U12 and u16 panels will be presented with their county medal in Fanny O Deas on Sunday 2nd December. They won both County championship finals aand a league final. John Burke from ELEVATE will present the medals.  The U10s will also get a presentation from their management. It all kicks off at 7pm.



Review of the year.(5-11-18)

In what was a very disappointing year for our adult teams there was better luck for our underage teams. Both our Junior and Intermediate teams failed to finish there competitions due to the lack of numbers, while our minors found the going tough in the B grade. Our u16s won the B shield final. The u14s fielded two teams with both sides loosing out in the final. The encouraging signs comes from our u12 teams, both winning there championships and also collecting a league title. Great work is also been done at u10s and u8s as they played several blitz during the year.


Minors finish the season with improvement (5-11-18)

The minor panel finished there championship season with a lost to Cuil Gaels.There was a big improvement in the standard of play from there previous performances. This is a very young side with players from the u14 and u15 panels parts of this team to make up the numbers. Well done to the mentors Alan Culligan, Shane Keating, Colette Hogan, Deirdre Cummins and Lauren Griffin who took on this team and gave of there time and effort.


County football fundraiser (1-11-18)

The mens and ladies county teams are orgainising a fundraiser ' Clare goes to the OSKARS. Fergal O Haier, Colette Hogan and Alan Culligan will take parts in the production. The event is on Friday November 23rd at the West County Hotel. Tickets can be got from any of the members above.


Clare GAA Coaching and Games workshop (1-11-18)

Clare GAA coachign and games will be hosting a gaelic Football skills development workshop for coaches. The focus of this will e to develop gaelic football skills using a sports wall. This workshop is suitable for coaches from u8s upwards. This will be held on Sat. 3rd Nov. in Eire Og Gaa grounds at 10am. Duration 60min.  There is no charge for this with confirmation of attendace to 086 3774097.


AGM 2018 (26-10-18)

Fergus Rovers will hold there AGM on Friday 30th November  at 8.30pm in the meeting room at Frure GAA Club house. All players, parents and mentors are asked to attend or anyone interested in getting involved for the coming season.


U14D cup final (24-10-18)

The u14D final between Fergus Rovers yellow side and Eire Og took place in Miltown under lights on Wednesday evening. Eire Og were the stronger side out playing Rovers 3-3 to 1-0 at half time. The goal came from Kyla Hickey. A point from Gracie Eustace and an Abbie Doyle goal in the second half was not enough against a very physically strong Eire Og team. Final score Fergus Rovers 2-1 Eire Og 3-6. Credit to the girls in blue who never gave up until the final whistle. The panel was Aoife Griffin, Ella Conway (cpt) Hazel Halpin, Faye Ayers, Meabh Griffin, Amy Conlon, Eimear Culligan, Gracie Eustace, Shauna Melican, Abbie Doyle, Aoife Burke, Alanah Murphy, Aoife O Brien, Kyla Hickey, Emma McMahon, Erin Kelly, Maria Meaney, and Caoimhe Talty. It was more dissapointment for the management of Ronan O Ceallaigh, Padraig Halpin, Declan Conway,  Clare Ayers, Gerry Griffin and Colette Hogan who also managed the U14A team that lost the shield final the evening before.



U14 A shield final, (23-10-18)

Fergus Rovers u14 Blue team lost out to Doora Barefield this evening on a final score of 4-5 to 6-9 in the Division A shield final. Rovers led at the break 3-5 to 1-4 with 2-2 coming from the boot of Anna Whelan. The third goal came from Rebecca MCCarthy. Points also from Aisling Costello and Orla  Hogan. Laura Griffin got the opening score of the second half when she goaled to push out her sides lead to 10 points. This was to be their final score of the game as Doora Barefield controlled the remaining 25 minutes. Barefield out scored Rovers 5-5 to 0 to win the title. In what was a dissapointing second half Rovers had worked extremely hard in the first half with the aid of a strong breeze playing some good football. All focus now turns to the yellow team who take on Eire Og tomorrow evening the the D Cup final in Kilmihil at 6.30pm. The panel was Robyn Cottam, Emer Phelan, Chloe O Shea, Enya Meaney, Aisling O Rourke, Niamh Ni Cheallaigh, Caoimhe Halpin, Orla Hogan, Fiona Breen, Rebecca McCarthy,; Rebecca Carmody, Aisling Costello, Anna Whelan (vc) Clara Meaney (cpt) Laura Griffin, Ciara Clohessy, Andrea Moloney, Caithlin Monahan and Louise Coffey. The management was Ronan O Ceallaigh, Colette Hogan, Gerrry Griffin, Padraig Halpin, Declan Conway and Claire Ayres.

U14  semi finals (8-10-18)



The u14 yellow team will have home advantage in the semi final against Liscannor with a day and time yet to be agreed. The Blue team play the Banner at the Banner grounds next Sat. morning at 11.30am in there semi final.


Fergus Rovers win u12 final

Fergus Rovers yellow u12 team made it a double when they added to the u12 title won by blue team on Sat. evening. In what was a cracker of a game Clarecastle dominated the first half and lead at the break by 2-6 to 2-1. Goals from Leah Culligan and Brenda McMahon kept Rovers in touch. The point came from Sadbh Griffin. The second half was dominated by Fergus Rovers who made a number of switches at half time which included moving goalie Phoebe O Shea to full back and pushing Keeva Culligan to centre back. 1-1 free from Sadbh Griffin had just a point between the sides. Katie McMahon added her name to the score sheet when she goaled after a lot of pressure from the Rovers forwards. Clarecastle responded with a point after Alanna Connolly made an excellent save to tap the ball over the bar. The final score Fergus Rovers 4-2 Clarecastle 2-7. U14s off to Croker. (11-9-18)

The u14 panel are been brought to Croke Park on Sunday to see the ladies All Ireland Football finals. The senior final is between Cork and Dublin.



U12 yellow final (11-9-18)

Fergus Rovers U12 yellow team are in final action again on Friday evening with the time and venue to be confirmed. The u12s have already collected two titles this season so far, and hoping for another good result on Friday evening. Credit to the management team lead by Patrica Meaney who have put in many hours to the two teams.



U12 win A plate final (10-9-18

Well done to the u12 Blue team who beat Clooney Quin in the perfect conditions in the Banner GAA grounds on Sat. evening. Fergus Rovers had a lot of possition and lead at the break 2-2 to 0-1 witht the goals coming from Aoife Griffin and captain Abbie Doyle. Meabh Ryan and Aoife Griffin had the points. Clooney Quin had goals of there in the second half and cut Rovers lead. Meabh Ryan and another Aoife Griffin point were the only scores for the winners in the second half. Credit to Rovers backs who held firm in the second half. The final score Fergus Rovers 2-4 Clooney Quin 2-3. 6 Winners of Forecast the score (5-9-18)

Congrats to our six winners of Forecast the score and thanks to all who purchased lines and to players and mentors for selling. The winners were Barry Lynch Ennis, Phoebe O Shea Ballynacally, Daire hannon Tulla, Sandra Heelan Ennis Garda Station, Alexandria Talty Lissycasey and Luch Davoren Lissycasey. Well done to all.



U12s beat Kilmihil (13-8-18)

The u12s beat Kilmihil on Sunday morning in ideal conditions in Ballynacally. Rovers played a lovely style of fooball with all panel members playing their part. Well done to the management on a well coached team. (photos to follow)


Burren Gaels and kilrush win Johnny Hayes tournament. (13-8-18)

Burren Gaels retained the Johnny Hayes shield trophy when they beat Fergus Rovers last evening. Early goals set the north Clare side on the road to victory, however the score line could have been a lot closer if the Rovers forwards shooting was more accurate. The second game between Kilrush and Cooraclare in the Cup final was much closer. Both sides had periods of dominance but Kilrush finished stronger. Well done to all four teams who played there hearts out and to their managements. Also well done to all who helped on the day to orgainise the event.



U12 div 4 final (17-6-18)

Congrats to the u12 yellow team who defeated Corofin in Fr.McNamara park this evening. Ria Meaney opened the scoring with a pointed free. Corofin had a goal minutes later but a well worked goal from Sadbh Griffin put Rovers back in front. Two pointed frees from Corofin had the half time score Fergus Rovers 1-1 Corofin 1-2. Evanna Costello who came on at half time pointed and a goal from the hard working Caoimhe Talty put Rovers back in the lead. A pointed free from Ria Meaney and a Sadbh Griffin point extended the lead. Captain Gracie Eustace added three points and one from Evanna Costello. Corofin had another goal but Rovers held out for a great win. Final score Fergus Rovers 2-8 Corofin 2-2. After the game Gracie Eustace accepted the cup on behalf of her team. Well done to all who have helped out with this team in particular Patricia Meaney (manager) Alan Culligan, Barry Keating and Tomas Lee. U10 blitz (17-6-18)

Fergus Rovers hosted three teams this morning in Ballynacally. Teams from Cuil Gaels, Kildysart and Kilmhil attended. Rovers fields 3 teams with 25 players taking part. Well done to all the mentors and parents for orgainising the day in particular Justin Griffin, Tara O malley, Joan Leahy, Stephen Sheedy and T.J O Rourke. A great day had by all with plenty of exciting football on show.


Intermediate defeat (16-6-18)

Fergus Rovers suffer a heavy defeat to Liscannor on Friday evening but the result was of little concern after long serving player Orla Griffin suffered a serious leg injury. All are wishing Orla the best in her recovery.



The u12 blue team have there final game this weekend against Crusheen in Crusheen at 7pm on Sunday. The yellow team have all there league games played but are waiting on other results to see if they reach the final. Final score 3-5 to 0-3


U16 B shield winners(25-5-18

Fergus Rovers won the U16 b shield final this evening agaist Burren Gaels. Both sides met earlier in the year with the North clare side winning out. Burren Gaels had 1-3 onthe board before Soracha Donnellan pointed one from a free and one from play. The gaels had a further goal mid way through the half to leave it 0-3 to 2-4. Aine Garry cut the lead as did another Donnellan point. Aisling Costello and Soracha Donnellan goaled and a point from Molly McCarthy had Rovers ahead at the break 2-6 to 2-4. It was more of the same from Donnellan in the second half as she got her second goal. Ciara Clohessy who had an excellent game also found the net. A Great run from Clohessey found wing forward Donnellan and she pointed. A goal from Ava Cotter had Rovers 8 points to the good. Savina Browne chipped in with a point as did Holly Garry who goaled. The final score Fergus Rovers 6-9 to Burren Gaels 5-6. Soracha Donnellan finished with a tally of 2-5 to her credit. Aine Garry accepted the cup after. U16 B sheild semi final

Fergus Rovers had a comfortable win over West Clare Gaels this evening in Doonbeg in the semi final of the shield. 7 players were on the mark for the girls in blue in what was there best performace this season.Ciara Clohessy, Savina Browne Aisling Costello and Ava Cotter had first half points with the two goals from a Block down on the goalie from Ellen Griffin and Ava Cotter also adding a green flag. Half time 2-5 to 0-3. Yet again the impressive Aine Garry added two goals as did Ellen Griffin and Sherrie Marrinan. Full time score 6-9 to 1-3. The final against Burren Gaels is due to be played this Wed. time and venue to be confirmed.


Lissycasey music Festival (9-5-18)

Lissycasey music festival is back again this year with The Shandrum Ceili Band on Thurs 21st June. Friday the 22nd June it will be hosting the Dympna O Sullivan Memorial Concert with local talent followed by Taylors Twist. Saturday night The BIG GENERATOR will hit the stage. A family day will be held on the Sunday with Patrick Roche and his band closing the weekend.


U12 yellow team against Corofin.

The u12 yellow team were at home in Ballynacally to Corofin this evening. Points from Meaibh Ni Mhuineachain and Phoebe O Shea before Corofin struck for the first of there five goals. Three excellent saves from captain Keeva Culligan in the first half for the Rovers goal kept her side in the game. Phoebe O Shea had the final score of the half with a goal. Halft time score Fergus Rovers 1-3 Corofin 1-2. Phoebe continue the second half scoring with a point. The vistors replyed with a goal to goahead by a point. Caoimhe Talty score 1-1 but 3-1 without reply for Corofin closed out this game. Roisin Garry pointed a late free. Final Score FergusRovers 2-6 Corofin 5-3. There were some excellent displays in particular from goal keeper Keeva Culligan who came out and blocked a number of certain goal chances. The U12 Blue team had a good win over Miltown 4-3 to 4-0  in Miltown this morning.


Intermediate championship (28-4-18)

Cooraclare were hosts this evening the championship where the home side required a win to have hopes of staying in the championship. A determinate and strong Cooraclare side had early scores on the board and 1-4 to a single point from Aine Slattery before disaster struck for Rovers with two serious injuries to Centre back and  Captain Ciara O malley and full back Aoife Clohessy, both players later went to Ennis hospital. The half time socre Rovers 0-4 Cooraclare 4-9. Things didnt impove for the visitors on the restart with Cooraclare adding 1-11 to there tally to 0-3. Final Score 0-7 to 5-20. Junior championship (27-4-18)

Fergus Rovers made the return journey to Kildysart in the first round of the championship this evening after both teams battled it out two weeks ago in the league which Kildysart won that night by one point. This evenings game was a lot different with Kildysart well on top. Laura Hanrahan opened Rovers account with a point. Kildysart registered 1-3 before Rebecca Cahill cut the lead to two points after she goaled. Kildysart replyed with a like score from the kickout to dent any hope of a come back. Ava O Malley had rovers final point of the half. Half time score FergusRovers 1-2 Kildysart 2-3. Another 1-2 from Kildysart extened the lead. Eimear Stephens goaled to give her side a life line but 2-5 from the home side without reply killed off Rovers. Emma Hill goaled  while three points from Laura Hanrahan (2 frees) complete the scoring. Final score Fergus Rovers 3-5 Kildysart 7-10. Well done to match mentors on the night Colette Hogan, Deirdre Cummins,Alan Culligan and Orla Griffin for giving of their time. Feile (yellow Team)

The feile matches for the yellow side took place in Lees road today. The opening game Rovers played Eire og, in what was a close game Roves stole the match. Clooney Quin were up next with Rovers winning this battle. There third game against Wolfe tone was a battle with the Shannon side winning out. Fergus Rovers are through to the Division 2 semi finals next weekend. Division 1 league defeat (14-4-18

The senior league round 2 was held in Killimher this evening against West Clare Gaels. The first quarter both teams were evenly matched. Louise Griffin, Clare Hestor, Lauren Griffin,  Aine Slattery and Aine kelly (2pt) had points to West Clare Gaels 1-3. Half time score F.rovers 0-6 W.Clare Gael 1-6.The west Clare sides half forward line did most of the scoring accounting for 1-12 out of 1-14 total. Aine Kelly (free) Lauren Griffin and Louise Griffin had points while Aine Kelly drove a free to the net. Full Time score F.Rovers 1-9 W.C.G 1-14. Three players who lined out in last nights Junior game played some part in this evenings game they are Laura Hanrahan, Aoife Clohessy and Meabh McCarthy. Junior lose but good battle. (13-4-18)

Fergus Rovers field a second adult team this evening against Kildysart in the 1st round of the Junior B league. Rovers had a dream start with goals from Yvonne Collins, Laura Hanrahan, Ava O Malley and Eimear Stephens to Kildysarts two points with only 10 minutes played. The home side kept tagging away with points leaving the half time score Fergus Rovers 4-3 to Kildysart 0-11. Ava O Malley (0-2) and Laura Hanrahan got the points for the visitors. Kildysart played all the football in the scond half adding a further 1-2 before Laura Hanrahan  pointed. A goal from Bernadette Kelly had rovers back in front by 2points.  1-1 from Kildysart made it a nail bitting finish. A good effort from Laura Hanrahan hit the cross bar, this was to deny her side a win. A late Emma Keating point had the minimum between the sides at the finish. Final score Fergus Rovers 5-5 Kildysart 2-15. Busy weekend for the club.(14-4-18)

This weekend is a very busy one for the club with five teams in action. Starting on Friday evening in Cooraclare at 5.30 the u12s blue team take on the home side. Kildysart is the venue for the Juniors opening game of the season at 7pm against Kildysart. On Saturday the U14 feile yellow team are in Lees Road at 2pm for their opening game against Eire Og , at 3pm they play clooney Quin and 4pm they take on Wolfe tones. Later that evening in Killimher the Division 1 league game between Fergus Rovers and West Clare Gaels is on 6.30pm. On Sunday the semi final and finals of the feile for the blue team are on with Rovers taking on Kilmurry Ib at 2pm in Gurteen with the winner playing in the final later in the day.


U16s championship.(11-4-18)

The u16s suffered their second defeat of the season to Burren Gaels in Ballynacally. Rovers were only one point down at half time 3-1 to 3-2. A smashing goal from County u16 player Aine Garry had Rovers ahead mid way through the second half. Unfortunately Burren Gaels up the pressure and finished strong winning out on a final score of Fergus Rovers 5-1 Burren Gaels 6-7.

MIXED LUCK (20-3-18)

There was mixed luck for Fergus Rovers over the weekend. The Divison 1 side suffered a heavy defeat to the Banner in Ballynacally. The u16s side found it tough in the A grade against Miltown while both u12 teams had comfortable wins over the Banner and Kildysart. The blue and Yellow teams are due to play next weekend Kildrush and Cuil Gaels.


All systems go this  weekend (14-3-18)

This weekend starts a busy season for the club with five games.  On Monday both u12 teams are in action, the yellow team are at home to Kildysart at 11am in Ballynacally, while at 3pm the Blue team are in Frure against The Banner.  The junior side (divison 4) are due to play Kildysart in Kildysart at 12 noon also on Monday. The Senior league also begins this weekend with a home game against The Banner the league holders in Ballynacally at 10.30am on Sunday morning. The u16s also have there opening game on Monday at 1pm in Miltown.


Garda Vetting 15-2-18

In accordance with vetting legislation, all persons who have a regulated role with Children (i.e. coaches, referees, parents who regularly assist in the LGFA) must be vetted under the Vetting Act by 1st Jan 2018.  There are no exceptionns to this directive.  If a person , who has not been vetted , continues to act in any of the above roles after 1st Jan 2018 they will be breaking the law as may their club .Please not that any person who is Garda Vetted through the GAA does not need to be vetted through the LGFA. The LGFA Vetting policy states that once vetted an applicant shall be re-vetted within a five year period.It is priority that all Managers/Coaches both new and existing are Garda Vetted.  This process can now be done online.



U14 county panel  (12-2-18)

Three Fergus Rovers players Chloe O Shea, Louise Coffey and Rebecca Carmody are part of the Clare u14 panel who play Tipperary on Sunday in Kilrush Active sports complex at 2pm in the first round of the Munster championship. The following weekend they are away to Limerick and on 19th of March they play Wateford at a neutral venue.



There will be 8 teams in Div. 4 split into two groups. The teams are Doora Barefield 2, Banner 2, East Clare Gaels, Burren Gaels 2, Fergus Rovers 2, Cul Gaels 2 Kildysart and Wolfe Tones.



Club coach of the year to Kilmihils Marie Egan (2-2-18)

The Ladies Gaelic Football associaton announced their Volunteer of the Year Award winners earlier today and Marie Egan Kilmihil has won overall CLUB COACH OF THE YEAR.Marie will be presented with her award later this month in Croke Park. Congrats Marie


Level 2 Referees Course

(for existing LGFA refs or refs with 5yrs experience in other field sports) on Mon 12 Feb in Frure, Lissycasey GAA @ 7pm (cost €10 each).


Training for u16s and Intermediates (16-1-18)

Training for the upcoming season begins for the u16s in Kildysart Astro turf on Thur 18th Jan. at 6pm to 7.30pm.  The intermediate side start the following evening in Frure at 8.30pm.


Fundamentals coaching course (16-1-18)

Anyone wishing to take part in a Fundamentals coaching course  should contact Frank Culleton  or the clubs secretary Colette Hogan before Tues. 23rd to confirm there placed. It takes place on Sat. 24th Feb. in Colaiste Muire Gym from 7.45 to 4pm. The cost for each coach is €20 to be paid at the next Co. Board meeting on Tue. 23rd to the treasurer.
