There will be a new u8 blitz competition for this year in Go Games format. They will take part in five blitz hosted by different club and orgainised by the county board.
On April 30th Fergus Rovers will travel to Gurteen to play Doora Barefield A, B and C teams.
On May 21st Fergus Rovers will host the bliz with Corofin, Cooraclare and West Clare Gaels attending.
18th June Kilrush will host Clooney quin A and B and Fergus Rovers.
20th August Newmarket host Clooney Quin A and B and Fergus Rovers.
17th Sept Wolfe tones host Corofin, Fergus Rovers and Kilmihil.

Fergus Rovers u8s for girls born in 2009 and 2010 will start training on Saturday 1st of April in Ballynacally hall from 9am to 10am. The team manger is T.J O Rourke assisted by Tara O Malley, Cathal Talty, Brid Keane. Trainin will switch to Clondegad GAA pitch from April 8th at 10am to 11am for six weeks before moving to Frure for a further six weeks.

Doora Barefield blitz (4-7-16)
Fergus Rovers u8s were invited to take part in the Doora Barefield blitz on Sunday evening. Doora Barfield fielded three teams, two teams from Fergus Rovers and a team from Kilmihil. Each team played three games. Well done to all the girls who played very well and to the parents for supporting the teams. The blue team was Neasa Meaney, Naoise Talty, Michelle Shannon, Lauren Feeney, Emma Haugh, Leah Leahy, Ciara Specllicy, Kealin McMahon and Rachel Hayes. There mentors were Cathal Talty, Tara O Malley, T.J O Rourke and Joan Leahy. The second team was Hazel Conway, Roisin Garry, Alexinedra Talty, Maeve Clancy, Leona O Rourke, Katie Troy, Casey Gulvin, Criodha McMahon and Holly Murphy, Brid Keane and Nollaig Griffin took charge of this team.

Fergus Rovers u8s will have their first game of the season when they take on a team from London. Clondegad gaa club are hosting a club from London as as part of the weekend Rovers u8s will play the visitors. Throw in is at the new time of 11am with players been asked to be there for 10.30am

Saturday morning was busy in Ballynacally pitch when the u8s had there final run out for 2015. Doora Barefield were the guests. The teams were divided into 3 teams all playing very well. A big thank you to Brid Garry, Aine McSweeney and Ciara Hartigan for refereeing the games. A big thank you to all the mentors Trisha Meaney, Justin Griffin, Alan Culligan, Triona Melican, Brid Keane, Nollaig Griffin and in particular to Tara O Malley who rarely missed a training session. The u8s played Cooraclare and Kilmihil on Saturday morning last. Rovers divided there panel into three teams with Cooraclare fielding two teams. The games were run off in blitz format with each team playing each other. Fergus Rovers had 27 out of 28 members of the panel available (Katie Troy sick). On Saturday morning at 10am in Ballynacally the u8s will play teams from Kilrush and Kilmihil. This u8 panel have a lot of work done since last March and all are looking forward to playing.

Farewell to Kristina, Darren, Mila and Tia, (29-6-15)
The clubs u8 manager Kristina Saunder and her partner Darren Pilkinton who is also a mentor with the u8s will attend there last training session this Saturday morning as they will be making a permant move to live in Germany on July 7th. Kristina has been involved for three years firstly as mentor under Ronan O Ceallaigh and they taking over from Ronan as manager. This is Darrens second year involved. Their two kids Mila is part of the U10 panel while Tia is in her final year at U8. To wish to the family well there will be a night in Griffins Ballynacally on Saturday 4th July. All are welcome to attend.

Fergus Rovers u8s played Doora Barefield last weekend. They were divided into two teams playing three ten minutes games. 21 girls togged out in the blue and gold and all played well. Fergus Rovers u8s travelled to Kilrush on Sunday morning to take part in their blitz. Rovers had 21 players and field two teams. For some girls this was there first match ever and all players got plenty game time in different positions. Well done to Kilrush for a well orgainised blitz the only problem was the bad weather. On the yellow team was Abblie Cahill, Ria Meaney, Nessa Meaney, Sinead O Leary, Niamh O Sullivan, Roisin Garry, Kate Lee, Keeva Culligan, Olivia Haugh, Sadbh Griffin and Hazel Conway. This team played three games against West Clare Gaels, Burren Gaels and Cooraclare. The management was Alan Culligan, Tara OMalley, Trisha Meaney and Nollaig Griffin. ON the blue team managed by Brid Keane, Darren Pilkinton, Kristina Saunder and Justin Griffin they also played three matches first up was Burren Gaels, Kilrush and West Clare Gaels. Training for u8s will resume on Saturday 30th of May in Ballynacally at 10am. The following morning they will travel to Kilrush to take part in a blitz. The start time is 10.45am. Players are asked to be in Kilrush at 10.15am.

On Sunday morning the u8 panel had their final outing of the year against Doora Barefield in Gurteen. There was three teams of nine all playing their part. On Justin Griffin and Nollaig Griffins team was Abbie Doyle, Abbie Cahill, Aoife Griffin, Caoimhe Talty, Claire Cuddihy, Grace Donnelly, Gracie Eustace, Meabh Ryan and Shauna Melican. On Kristina Sanders, Brid Keanes and Ava O Malleys team was Heather Delap, Kate Kelly, Katelyn Haugh, Katie Griffin, Leah Culligan, Niamh O Sullivan, Sadbh Griffin and Sarah O Shea, while Darren Pilkinton and Alan Culligan took charge of Aimee Monahan, Aoibhinn Troy, Brenda McMahon, Hazel, keating, Keeva Culligan, Ria Meaney, Sophie Culliton, Tia Pilkinton and Kate Lee. Well done to all the girls who have put in a great effort throughout the year. They will not take a well earned break for the winter with nine of todays team moving to u10 next year. A big thank you to all the parents for bring the girls to the matches and training during the year. Intotal the girls had 24 training sessions and three matches. On Saturday morning 13th(time to be confirmed) the u8s will travel to Labasheeda to play teams from Kilmihil and the local side Shannon Gaels. This group have a lot of training done over the last few months and it is hoped a lot of parents will travel to support the girls. On Saturday 27th September they will be away to Doora Barefield.

Twenty four new girls have joined U 8s this year in addition to last years beginners bringing the panel to thirty six. Team manager Kristina Sander along with Bríd Keane and Darren Pilkington recently completed the Ladies Gaelic Football FUNdamentals course. Justin Griffin, Alan Culligan, Nollaig Griffin and Ava O'Malley complete the management team. Training will switch to Ballynacally from May 3rd.
Great start to the season (22-03-14)
There was a great start to U8 training this morning with thirty players togging out on a cold morning with some playing for the very first time. It was great to see so many familiar faces returning for a second season. There was disappointemnt for the U 8 panel where their eagerly awaited matches with Kilrush did not go ahead at Frure today as arranged.
Yesterday Kilrush informed Fergus Rovers that they were short the majority of their panel due to holidays etc. However, twenty girls had
a most enjoyable training session instead and now will take the next two Saturdays off before resuming on Saturday August 17th at Frure
at the usual time of 10a.m.

Encouraging start to U 8 season (24-03-13)
Despite the cold weather there was a great turn out at Frure on Saturday March 23rd for the first coaching session of the year where

Girls attending schools outside of the parish are also invited to attend. The U 8 manager for the coming year is Ronan O'Ceallaigh and will be helped by Mary Keane, Brid Keane and Mark Cottam. Registration fee is €20 and this can be paid at the first training session.

On this Saturday 6th of October the U8s will have their final training session. This group of players have made great progress in all the skills of the game since they started last March. Fergus Rovers U 8s played their first match for 2012 on June 23rd when twenty four girls all got to play, practise the skills they have learned in their eleven sessions to date and have fun. The girls were divided into three groups of seven and all played at the same time. They all enjoyed their morning in Ballynacally and Fergus Rovers would like to thank Doora Barefield for travelling. Well done to U 8 manager Ronan O'Ceallaigh for organising the event assisted by Nollaig Griffin, Padraig Halpin and Mary Keane. Coaching for this group has taken place in Lissycasey pitch for the last five weeks. On Saturday 4th of May this group will move to Ballynacally pitch for a further six weeks, however there will be no training on the weekends of 19th May and the 26th May due to First Holy Communion in both Lissycasey and Ballynacally.

On Saturday last the Fergus Rovers club presented each U 8 player with their own "first touch" football to train with at home.

Fergus Rovers U 8s had their first training of 2012 in Frure on March 24th. 18 players attended with some players playing football for the first time. Fergus Rovers U8s travelled to Gurteen to play Doora Barfield on Saturday 24th September last. The players were divided into three groups with seven on each team. Some very exciting football was played on the day. This was the last outing of the year for this group, and ten girls of this panel now move to U10s next year. Doora Barfield provided goodie bags for all players after the game. This group of players met 24 times since March 26th under the management of Ronan O Ceallaigh, Mary Keating, Mary Keane, Brid Keane, Nollaig Griffin, Grainne McCarthy and Jackie Lynch. They will now take a well earned break and recharge their batteries for the 2012 season.
Fergus Rovers v Doora Barfield
Fergus Rovers under 8s play Doora Barfield on Saturday 24th Sept in Gurteen. Parents are requested to have the players at the venue by 9.40am with the game starting at 10am and all will be finished by 11am.
10th of September Fergus Rovers u8s played two very exciting 8 a side games against Kilmihil in Ballynacally, playing three 10min games.
Fergus Rovers had 21 players lining out on the day with great defending and some good scores taken.
Next Saturday the 17th of September this group of players will have their last training session in Ballynacally, as the following Saturday they will be travelling to Doora Barfield Gaa grounds for their final outing of the year.

Fergus Rovers U8s will play Kilmihil in Ballynacally on Sat 10th of September at 10am.

Fergus Rovers U8s played Kilmihil on Saturday 16th July in Kilmihil G.A.A pitch. 20 girls played there part in the game with many great displays.
Under 8s Training
This is the newest team in the Club which was set up for the first time last year. Coaching for this group takes place on Saturday mornings and alternates between Lissycasey and Ballynacally. The panel consists of twenty seven girls born in 03 and 04. Currently they are on their third six week phase and will continue in Frure, Lissycasey until July 16th at which stage they will take a few weeks holidays and resume again on August 20th.
The team manager is Ronan O Ceallaigh. He is assisted by Nollaig Griffin, Mary Keating, Brid Keane Grainne McCarthy, Jackie Lynch and Mary Keane.
On Saturday, Jund 25th twenty two girls played against doora Barefield at Frure. Three teams lined out many of whom were playing the first match in their career. Despite the rain all enjoyed themselves and will play a return match against Doora Barefield later in the year.
