Top table returns

The top table of Mairead Hayes, Patricia Meaney and Ronan OCeallaigh were relected to there roles as Chair person, secretary and treasurer at this years A.G.M. in what was a great year for the club on the playing field with eight trophies collected with the highlight the community games All Ireland final and the Intermediate final.

What a weekend it was for the club. The u14 girls from Lissycasey/Ballynacally won the All Ireland community games final in UL in Limerick on Saturday. On Sunday the double header in Miltown of the Intermediates reaching the final against Kilrush in two weeks time and the Junior side capturing the B final against Miltown. Well done to all players and management for doing the club proud.


Minor A final (23-8-22)

Goals wins games and this was the case in the Minor A final between Fergus Rovers and Doora Barefield played in Cusack Park on Tuesday evening. Barefield scored two goals within the first seven minutes which made this an uphill battle for a young Rovers side.

Ria Meaney gave Rovers a life line with a goal mid way through the first half. Barefield responded within minutes with a like score leaving the half time score Fergus Rovers 1-5 Doora Barefield 3-4. Shortly after the restart another goal for Doora Barefield extended there lead. The experience and strength as they were chasing a three in a row minor titles came to the fore. Rovers never game up with 4 pointed frees from Aisling Costello and one each from Clara Meaney and Aoife Burke. Final score Fergus Rovers 1-8 Doora Barefield 4-10. Credit to the management  of Eamonn Finnucane, Ger keane, Helen Murphy, Martin Kelly, Ronan O Ceallaigh and Patricia Meaney for all their work. U15 Natinal Feile 2022

 Fergus  rovers  u15s will represent  Clare in the national feile next weekend in Kildare. Rovers first game is at 11am against Clann Eirrann of Armagh. Next up at 12.30 is Maghercloone of Monaghan and at 1.40pm they play Sallins of Kildare.






U14A League final

Fergus Rovers 4-9 Kilrush 3-9 (AET)


Extra time was required to separate Fergus Rovers and Kilrush in the U-14A League Final at Kilmihil on Monday last before Fergus Rovers emerged to claim a thrilling contest by a goal.


In a first half that produced five goals it was Fergus Rovers that had the brighter start kicking the first three points, two from Sarah Hickey while dominating possession in the opening quarter.


Kilrush equalised with a goal from Avamay Broderick while Ali Talty put Fergus Rovers back in front with her first goal.


Kilrush goals from Jessica O’Sullivan and Caoimhe Griffin, a good save from Rovers goalie Kate Griffin and a second Ali Talty goal left the half time score Fergus Rovers 2-05 Kilrush 3-01.


In the second half Fergus Rovers Maeve Clancy kicked a goal and a point adding to her first half tally of two points while the impressive Kilrush full forward kicked five points and so at the end of normal time the sides were deadlocked at 3-07 each.


Kilrush took the lead in extra time when Aibhlinn Cotter pointed but Maeve Clancy replied with a like score.


Soon after Ali Talty won possession in her own full back line and worked it all the way up the field with Maeve Clancy before the latter pointed to put her side in front, 3-09 to 3-08 at half time in extra time.


Then, came the crucial score for Fergus Rovers when substitute Saoirse Conway goaled to put her side ahead by four, the biggest lead over the course of the game with the final score falling to the excellent Aibhlinn Cotter.


In addition to the scorers Naoise Talty, Saoirse Frawley, Nessa Meaney and Emma Kelly played well for Fergus Rovers as did Marie Purtill, Ania Aajas and Kara O’Shea for Kilrush.

After the game county secretary Monica Callinan presented the shield to Fergus Rovers captain Ali Talty.

Club fundraiser 7-2-22

The club are selling timber as a fundraiser. 1 tonne bags for sale at €50. A special thank you to Casey and Meaney Construction for supplying the timber and friends of Fergus Rovers who kindly volunteered to cut and bag the wood.

New u14 cup in Memory of Johnny (7-2-22)

A new cup will be presented to U14 county level in memory of Johnny Hayes R.I.P. A fitting memorial to Johnny for a lifetime of service to ladies football.


New chairperson  (26-1-22)

Mairead Hayes has been elected the new chairperson for the coming season. Mairead has been involved with the club over the years a a mentor and manager to the U16s and minors.
